Mission to India and The Eynsford Christian Fellowship
In 1981 Sue Varney, now Sue Muller, a teacher and a friend of Eynsford Christian Fellowship’s former Pastor John Saunders, went on a years exchange to Pathoncot in the Punjab area of India, where she discovered a large Mission College belonging to the Indian Evangelical Team (Pentecostal)
In the following years, until 1989 the church in Rugby where John Saunders was then Pastor and several others churches supported this Mission on a regular basis, and the Mission's President and Treasurer visited England.
In 1990 Pastors John and Joan Saunders accepted an invitation to visit the work at first hand, and led a team of seven others to India. Since that first visit other teams have followed regularly, year by year.
In 1994 the Rugby church was asked to represent the Indian Evangelical team in England, and later was asked to represent the Mission in Europe. The Director of the Mission, Dr P.G. Vargis, on learning about John's move to become Pastor of Eynsford Baptist Church, asked John to continue to be responsible for representing the work which then moved to Eynsford with John.
The practise of teams visiting India has been continued at Eynsford, with the church enthusiastically maintaining the ministry begun at Rugby, both financially and with regular visits to India by members of the congregation. In these visits tens of thousands of people have been ministered to, hundreds have come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour, many, many miraculous healings have been witnessed, and the church at Eynsford has been blessed and encouraged!
